The Komlin (コムリン^[1], Komurin, lit. translation "Com link") are a series of robots create by Komui Lee for various purposes, though the motivation their creation is typically geared towards helping lighten the workload of the members of the Black Order. They almost always go haywire, though, or end up receiving orders from Komui that cause harm/threaten the well-being of those they were designed to help. This usually ends in them being destroyed in many comical ways, typically by Lenalee Lee and her Innocence, the Dark Boots.

The KomlinEdit

Komlin IEdit

The first Komlin robot Komui Lee made was destroyed by Yu Kanda because it supposedly ate his soba.^[2]

Komlin IIEdit

Built by Komui with the intention of it lightening the workload of the Science Division, it was fully capable of performing surgery and repair work to Anti-Akuma Weaponry. Komui, though, programmed it to share his intelligence level and personality, resulting in it apparently sharing his love of coffee. It drank Komui's coffee and went insane, first attempting to make Lenalee Lee more masculine.^[3]

When Komui told the Komlin that Allen's Innocence was damaged, the robot made Allen its top priority and trapped it in the surgery room built into its hull. Lenalee then regained consciousness and kicked the Komlin (as well as her brother when he tried to defend it), making it explode.^[4]

It was later revealed by way of an after chapter special that Reever Wenhamm and the other members of the Science Division dismantled the Komlin II, and afterwards the robot was smashed in a hydraulic press,^[5] though in the anime, Komlin II was being kept in storage, which allowed Komui to steal and upgrade it in his attempts to destroy Russell when he thought Russell was dating his sister.^[6]

Note: Komui's perception of Komlin II changes slightly between the Japanese and English versions: In the original, Komui proudly refers to it as his "scientific work of art", when the dubbed version has Komui refer to Komlin II as his "son" or "baby".

Komlin III (anime only)Edit

Summoned and driven by Komui Lee in his attempt to destroy Russell when Komui believed he (Russell) and his sister were dating, it ended up leveling part of the town and, ultimately, got kicked and destroyed by Lenalee.^[7]

Komlin IV (anime only)Edit

Another giant robot made by Komui Lee, it attacked Allen, Krory and Lavi when the Gatekeeper perceived Krory as a Akuma. It made Lavi into an omelet, and dumped salt and oil on Allen and Krory.

Later, it was turned into a cleaning bot and was seen at Krory's 'welcome party'. Krory spilled tea on it, and Komui asked it to 'beautify' the place (as in clean). The miniature Komlin misinterpreted Komui's intentions and attacked everyone, deciding they were 'dirty and needed to be beautified', males and females alike. It put makeup on them and painted their nails, save Lenalee, who escaped the attack. Lenalee then kicked it and destroyed it.^[8]

Komlin EXEdit

The most humanoid of the Komlin series and built in Komui's likeness, Komlin EX was first seen during the Black Order European Branch's move from their old headquarters to the new.^[9] When the Science Division members and several others (prominently Reever Wenhamm, Johnny Gill, Allen Walker, Lavi, Yu Kanda and the Bookman) attempt to apprehend and tie Komui up for his creation, the Komuvitan D, after it made most members of the Order go mad, Komui ordered the Komlin EX to do the same and trumped them, immediately after ordering the robot to open fire on them.

The robot was later seen eating Howard Link's report to save Komui from later punishment,^[10] lamenting its inability to save Komui before being shamelessly seduced and used by Allen as a way to avoid being injured,^[11] getting its head kicked off by Arystar Krory, playing dead to avoid injury, itself,^[12] and then defending Komui one last time before it managed to make a vaccine to the effects of the Komuvitan D, only for a maddened General Socalo to throw his Innocence, Madness, through its chest and destroy it.^[13]

TriviaEdit

• It has been theorized by some viewers and readers that the name Komlin is derived from Komui's and Lenalee's (pronounced as Rinarī) names.
